Digital creators compete with mainstream giants at inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards

In a historic first, digital content creators are going head-to-head with major TV networks at the inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards.

Long regarded as the “Filipino Oscars,” FAMAS is expanding beyond film to include television, radio, and online platforms—marking a major shift in how mainstream recognition is defined.

YouTube creators Esnyr (“High School Series”) and Kristories, which specializes in animated horror, are competing directly with GMA and ABS-CBN entries for Best Series.

Digital creators are also dominating lifestyle and educational categories. Mimiyuuuh, Ranz Kyle, and Small Laude lead the Best Lifestyle Show race, while Zac Alviz, Doc Alvin, and Sining Bulilit go up against programs from PTV4, GMA, and the Knowledge Channel.

In Comedy, Facebook and TikTok stars like Cong TV, Malupiton, and Davao Conyo face off with long-running Kapuso staples “Bubble Gang” and “Pepito Manaloto.”

In Radio, internet personalities Mikey Bustos, Baus Rufo, Bretman Rock, and Dani Barretto dominate the Best Podcast Host category, with their respective programs also earning nods in Best Podcast—except for Bustos’ channel, AntMan Canada.

The digital presence extends to civic-oriented categories. Doc Willie Ong (Best Public Service Show), Scenario by KaYoutubero (Best Documentary), and Persida Acosta (Best Host for Public Service) are nominated alongside Ivana Alawi and Toni Gonzaga, who have also shifted toward content creation.

The awarding ceremony will be held on July 20 at the Manila Hotel—honoring 30 categories, including two honorary titles.
