Int’l artists, content creators congratulate SB19 for Lollapalooza debut

Global reactions from international artists and content creators continue to pour in after SB19’s Lollapalooza performance.

SB19’s historic debut at Lollapalooza Chicago continues to make waves worldwide, with international fans and creators praising the P-pop group’s standout performance across social media. 

As the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at the globally renowned music festival, the quintet delivered high-energy performances with Filipino pride. They opened with “DAM” and “GENTO,” debuted their newly released single “LAWLESS,” transformed “MAPA” into an emotional sea of Philippine flags, and honored the late Francis Magalona through “Mga Kababayan Ko,” and capped off one of the night’s biggest moments when the Chicago Bulls mascot joined them onstage for the viral “DUNGKA” choreography. 

The performance quickly gained traction online. On X, music reactor MelanieReacts applauded the group’s decision to perform ballads, writing that although she isn’t Filipino, she felt “immense pride” for what the group had achieved. 

The milestone also earned praise from Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas, who congratulated the group on Instagram, calling their Lollapalooza appearance “historic.” “Congrats to my little brothers @officialsb19 on their historic performance at Lollapalooza. So incredible! … Keep killing it,” he wrote. 

For many viewers, Lollapalooza marked their first introduction to SB19. TikTok creator Olivia Christie garnered over 100,000 views after posting, “First introduction to SB19 and I’m obsessed.” The excitement also spread beyond English-speaking audiences, with creators such as @miguelmartinezzz, @imysmkp, and @nadiazhou introducing the group to their own online communities. 

The excitement surrounding SB19’s performance quickly spread worldwide. In Japan, content creator YU-TA (Yuta in Tokyo) celebrated the milestone by posting a dance cover of “LAWLESS.” Meanwhile, a congratulatory message for SB19 appeared on a digital billboard near Tokyo’s Shibuya Station, wishing the group success at Lollapalooza and beyond.

International creator @greciaslopez also caught up with SB19 in an interview following their set. Reflecting on the milestone, Justin shared the overwhelming excitement performing for their fans. “Ever since our debut, it’s one of our dreams to perform at a big festival like Lollapalooza,” he said. 

Beyond the performance, A’TIN also drew praise online. Festivalgoers commended the fanbase for the welcoming hospitality throughout the event. One attendee shared that despite spending hours under the blazing sun, fans looked after one another by sharing food and water, assisting those who needed medical attention, and practicing CLAYGO (Clean As You Go) after the show. 

“I hope the boys know how proud they can be of their A’TIN after Lollapalooza,” the attendee wrote, describing the fandom as “a family that supports each other.”

As clips from the performance continued to circulate online, SB19’s performance amassed over 500,000 viewers on Weverse with 13.8 million reactions, and reached even more audiences through Disney+ and Hulu. The global buzz extended to streaming, with “LAWLESS” surpassing 536,000 streams and SB19 reaching more than 2.2 million followers on Spotify.
