Her push for long-term fixes sparks criticism over her friends’ perceived political ties and questions about accountability.

Bianca Gonzalez once again spoke out on the country’s worsening flood crisis, calling for solutions that go beyond temporary fixes as heavy rains continue to inundate parts of Metro Manila.

“TAMA NA ang band aid, short term, temporary fixes sa tag-ulan. DESERVE NG PILIPINO NG EFFECTIVE LONG TERM SOLUTIONS,” Gonzalez wrote, pointing to flood control, mass public transport, and good governance.

“Taon-taon nalang ganito. Bakit sa mga katabi nating bansa, kaya naman, eh dito, parang mas lumalala?” she added.

While some agreed with her call, others turned the conversation toward Gonzalez herself. With netizens accusing her of being “two-faced,” questioning why she speaks about governance issues while allegedly not cutting off or calling out her friends, Toni Gonzaga and Mariel Padilla, for their perceived political positions.

Another commenter backed Gonzales’ point, arguing that ordinary Filipinos often end up improvising their own flood solutions despite government agencies having the budget and responsibility to provide them.

The criticism comes as severe Habagat rains submerged roads and residential areas across Metro Manila, snarled traffic, prompted emergency responses, and forced class suspensions. PAGASA recorded 201.7 millimeters of rain in the capital on Monday, with 138.7 millimeters falling in just two hours.

As Filipinos once again navigate floodwaters, Gonzales’ post has opened a familiar debate—not only on government accountability, but also on the consistency expected from public figures who speak about it.
