The voices behind Mulan’s singing and speaking roles share a nostalgic Disney moment.

Years after their voices helped define one of Disney’s most beloved heroines, Lea Salonga and Ming Na Wen shared a special reunion on stage at the “Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert Celebration.”

The gathering brought together some of the voices and performers behind Disney’s most iconic princesses for a musical showcase held at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California, as part of the celebrations surrounding Princess Week and D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

For fans of the 1998 animated classic “Mulan,” however, the appearance of Salonga and Wen carried a deeper sense of nostalgia.

Wen voiced Mulan in the film, giving the character her speaking voice, while Salonga provided her singing voice. Salonga’s rendition of “Reflection” became one of the defining musical moments of the animated film and remains closely associated with the character.

The concert brought together performers connected to several generations of Disney stories, celebrating songs from films including “Cinderella,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Moana,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Mulan,” “Pocahontas” and “Aladdin.”

Salonga was among the featured performers, showcasing the vocal work that has connected her to Disney history for decades. She performed “A Whole New World” with Brandy and later delivered a solo performance of “Reflection.”

Her Disney legacy extends beyond Mulan. Salonga also provided the singing voice for Princess Jasmine in the animated “Aladdin,” further cementing her place among the artists who gave some of Disney’s most recognizable characters their musical identities.

The celebration also featured Judy Kuhn, the original singing voice of Pocahontas, and Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog.”

The evening concluded with the ensemble performing “When You Wish Upon a Star,” bringing together the different eras and stories represented throughout the concert.

For Salonga and Wen, their reunion was particularly meaningful, reconnecting two voices that helped bring Mulan to life and leaving fans with a memorable moment in Disney history.
