Ayala Triangle’s ₱150 to ₱550 rental lockers raise eyebrows

QUBE’s smart lockers, mainly for fitness enthusiasts, can be rented for 4 to 12 hours.

Rental lockers are finally available at Ayala Triangle Gardens following requests from fitness enthusiasts in the area, but netizens are divided over the supposedly exorbitant prices.

QUBE unveiled 37 units of smart rental lockers at Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati City on September 4. The development follows requests from runners, cyclists and visitors for a secure area to safeguard their belongings while out.

Large and XL lockers are available for rent at intervals of four, eight and 12 hours. Customers can select and manage their rental through a screen, needing only a PIN to open and close the locker.

Rentals for a Large unit are priced at ₱150 for four hours, ₱250 for eight hours, and ₱350 for 12 hours. XL locker rentals are available at ₱250 for four hours, ₱400 for eight hours, and ₱550 for 12 hours. The prices match QUBE’s other units in Makati, Bonifacio Global City and tourist areas across the country.

While many rejoiced at the development, others deemed the prices unreasonable.

Ayala Triangle Gardens has attracted fitness enthusiasts from around Metro Manila and beyond because of its pedestrian- and bike-friendly infrastructure, which many prefer over formal fitness facilities due to the accessibility and absence of fees. The central business district has also implemented Car-free Sundays at Ayala Avenue every Sunday morning to attract visitors.

Some allege the limited locker availability, accompanied by a supposedly exorbitant price tag, only discourages fitness activity in the area.

“A competitor needs to come in with a cheaper option. ₱150 just seems too much for a locker. It’s like a parking space already,” said a Threads user.

Some speculate that the prices may be on purpose to attract a more affluent demographic. “Alam na natin based sa pricing kung sino ang target market.. but kidding aside may gagastos pa rin for that locker just to run alongside celebrities,” said another Threads user.
