Chamyto steps into Christian Bables role in ‘Taksyapo!’ rerun

The actor plays his second Bables-originated role ahead of Barbs in ‘Die Beautiful’ musical.

Before his breakout role as alternate Barbs in the upcoming “Die Beautiful” musical, theater actor Chamyto returns to his roots as he takes on JM–another role previously played by Christian Bables–in the Virgin Labfest (VLF) 2026 play “Taksyapo!” on August 7.

Playwright and comedian John “Sweet” Lapus revealed Chamyto’s casting as JM in a post on X (formerly Twitter), following the actor’s announcement as part of “Die Beautiful: The Musical.”

“Bago pa sya maging si Barbs sa #DieBeautifulMusical, JM muna si @Chamyto sa repeat ng most talked about play ng #VLF21HubotHubad sa Aug 7, 2026 8pm sa CCP Tanghalang Ignacio Jimenez,” Lapus wrote.

Chamyto’s role in the replay marks his VLF debut, following his ensemble appearance in First Sun Production’s short play festival “Saglit Lang, Totoo Na” last June.

“Taksyapo!” is one of three one-act plays returning for a special, one-night-only performance in VLF’s 21st installment, alongside Floyd Scott Tiogangco’s “Patayin ang mga Surot” and Gab Mactal’s “Lualhati.”

Tickets for Chamyto’s run in “Taksyapo!” are priced at ₱1,200 and will soon be available on TicketWorld. Meanwhile, the cast schedule for “Die Beautiful: The Musical,” where Chamyto alternates with theater actress Lance Reblando, will be announced on its social media pages.
