Director Adolfo Alix Jr. honors the enduring legacy of the two screen icons as “Poon” and “Pila” represent the Philippines at the prestigious Moscow International Film Festival.
Filipino film “Poon” (“The Hallowed”) is set to make its world premiere at the Moscow International Film Festival this April 16 to 23, with director Adolfo Alix Jr. calling the milestone both a blessing and a bittersweet moment for Philippine cinema.
In a Facebook post, Alix announced that “Poon” will screen alongside his other film “Pila,” writing, “Another blessing as ‘Poon’ will also have its world premiere… Two films in Moscow—’Pila’ and ‘Poon!’ Thank you for the blessings, Lord Almighty!”
The director highlighted the emotional weight of the film, which features the final performances of late screen icons Ronaldo Valdez and Jaclyn Jose. “It is a bittersweet honor to feature the final performances of icons Ronaldo Valdez and Jaclyn Jose in this film,” he shared, adding, “Ms. Jane (Jose), I hope we’re making you proud up there! We miss you!”
