Easter Sunday marked a high-glamour shift as 50 delegates vied for a semifinal spot through Filipino craftsmanship and world-class poise.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2026 season officially entered its high-glamour phase this Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. The organization released the highly anticipated Preliminary Evening Gown Competition videos, showcasing 50 delegates in a display of Filipino craftsmanship and world-class poise.
Under the leadership of National Director Ariella Arida, the competition has adopted a digital-first strategy. The preliminary segments, including the evening gown and swimsuit rounds, are being released weekly throughout April. This allows the audience to focus on each delegate’s individual performance ahead of the grand coronation night on May 1 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Nicole Borromeo of Cebu Province emerged as a dominant force during the release. Dressed in a sculpted silver masterpiece by Leo Almodal, Borromeo’s “composed and controlled” walk perfectly complemented the intricate beadwork of her gown. Her performance solidified her status as a top-tier veteran in this year’s competitive roster.
Another major highlight was the performance of Bea Millan (Beatrice Millan-Windorski) representing La Union. As the former Miss Earth USA 2024 and Miss Earth Water, Millan brought an undeniable international caliber to the stage. Her transition to the Miss Universe platform has been a major talking point, and her sophisticated presence in the evening gown round reaffirmed why she is considered a primary frontrunner.
The Pretty in Pink trend
The “Pretty in Pink” trend was a recurring theme, led by Apriel Smith of Cebu City. Dressed in a vibrant pink Oscar James gown, Smith’s signature “Black Barbie” walk provided a high-energy contrast to the more ethereal presentations. Justine Felizarta of Manila also stood out, utilizing her seasoned expertise to deliver a walk that balanced high-fashion drama with traditional pageant grace.
The release also cleared up confusion regarding Kathleen Caseñas. While she was originally sashed as representing Batangas, she officially appeared in the preliminary clips as Miss Bohol. While the organization has not issued a detailed statement on the switch, fans noticed the change immediately as voting launched on the Maya app.
Public voting for the evening gown segment is now open and will continue until April 11. These votes are critical, as they offer one of the four pathways to the semifinals. The journey culminates next month when the reigning queen, Ahtisa Manalo, crowns her successor, who will then represent the Philippines in Puerto Rico this November.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2026 race heats up as Cebu’s Nicole Borromeo and La Union’s Bea Millan dominate the digital release of the preliminary evening gown competition.
