The Philippine peso gained 27 centavos to close at ₱62.465 against the US dollar on Friday, September 25, 2026, rebounding after two consecutive sessions of losses.
Intraday trading saw the local currency hit a low of ₱62.75, strengthening by nearly 5 centavos from the previous session’s low of ₱62.795, as the peso inched toward the lower half of the ₱62 mark.
Peso rebounds toward lower half of ₱62 range
Meanwhile, the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) advanced 95.95 points, or 1.67%, to close at 5,825.97, notching a strong recovery from its six-day losing streak.
Friday’s session brought a welcome breather to local financial markets after days of heavy selling pressure. The strong performance across both equities and foreign exchange allowed local shares to reclaim key support while helping the peso pull back from recent weakness.
