Philippine financial markets ended mixed on Monday, August 10, 2026, as the stock market posted a slight decline while the peso recovered sharply from its recent losses.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) dropped 1.14 points, or 0.02%, to close at 6,289.21, giving up the modest gains recorded in the previous trading session. Despite the slight decline, the index remained below the 6,300 level, suggesting the market continued to trade within a relatively stable range as buying interest remained limited.
Peso recovers
The Philippine peso strengthened, gaining nearly 26 centavos to close at ₱60.705 against the US dollar, recovering from the losses posted in the previous two trading sessions.
The local currency reached an intraday high of ₱60.85, around 21 centavos stronger than the previous session’s rate, pulling farther away from the ₱61 level after edging closer to it in the previous trading session.
Monday’s session reflected mixed sentiment across Philippine financial markets. While local equities remained subdued below the 6,300 level, the peso staged a strong recovery against the US dollar, offering some relief after its recent slide.
