Offer covers eight-hour performance schedule, compensated by free food.
Content creator and entrepreneur Rosmar Tan has once again been criticized online after her call for performers at a Tagaytay restaurant drew backlash over an alleged ₱500 daily talent fee for musicians.
In a Facebook post, musician Kv Khaii Nicodemus Ebreo said she responded to the post and sent a private message to Tan, but was offered only ₱500 per performer per day, plus free food, for a 4 PM to midnight schedule.
Ebreo said the amount was far below what musicians in Tagaytay typically charge, citing a rate of around ₱1,500 per musician for a live band.
She also said a band would normally perform only three sets during an engagement, meaning the proposed schedule would require musicians to remain at the venue for up to eight hours.
The musician said the talent fee also has to be viewed alongside the costs performers incur before and during a gig, including rehearsals, preparation, transportation, instruments, equipment, and maintenance.
Online listings for bands in Tagaytay show advertised rates ranging from around ₱8,000 to ₱40,000 per engagement, although these are individual provider rates and should not be taken as an official industry standard.
Ebreo said other musicians reached out to her after her post calling out the content creator and shared experiences involving similarly low offers, including an alleged ₱400 rate for a duo performer.
She clarified that her criticism was not aimed at musicians who accept lower fees due to their financial circumstances, but at the possibility of such offers becoming normalized.
