Controversy erupts over alleged AI use in the TV series.
“Sigabo” has come under fire after viewers claimed that a recent scene appeared to use artificial intelligence, sparking online debate over AI in local television productions.
A clip from the episode quickly circulated on social media, with many saying they initially did not realize it was from “Sigabo” because of its unusual visuals. Some viewers said the series looked “more like an AI-generated TikTok clip than a snippet from a primetime show.”

“Mukhang Singaporean film na dumaan lang sa TikTok FYP ko,” one netizen commented.
The alleged use of AI also drew criticism toward ABS-CBN, with some arguing that relying on the technology undermines the work of artists and production staff. While several acknowledged the challenges of limited production budgets, others said it “would have been better to omit the scene altogether than include one that appeared noticeably AI-generated.”
“Grabe ABS-CBN and ‘Sigabo’ team, wala ba kayong respeto sa team n’yo?” another user wrote.
“Sigabo” is an action-comedy romance series starring Coco Martin and Julia Montes. Created and directed by Martin, the show follows Gabo, an exonerated convict who takes on covert missions while navigating justice, action, and romance.
As of writing, neither the production team nor ABS-CBN has issued a statement addressing the circulating clip and claims that AI was used in the scene.
