Kate Alejandrino on work and mom guilt.
For Kate Alejandrino, sharing the role of Candy in the stage adaptation of “Endo” isn’t about competition but also about connection.
Kate had nothing but admiration for Iana Bernardez, who alternates with her in the role. Having grown up in the industry together, their journey has been filled with shared auditions, projects, and milestones. Now, seeing Iana take on Candy feels like watching family come full circle, like witnessing a younger sister step into her own and truly shine onstage.
Offstage, Kate is navigating a different kind of role: motherhood. She admitted that dealing with mom guilt and time away from her child hasn’t been easy, especially in an industry that demands long hours and physical absence.
But with the support of her husband, award-winning actor Cedric Juan, along with her family, Kate has found a new perspective. For her, continuing to pursue her passion is also a way of setting an example—showing her child that it’s possible to chase dreams while building a meaningful life.
“Endo” also stars Royce Cabrera and Jasmine Curtis-Smith. The stage adaptation runs from April 10 to May 10 at the PETA Theater Center, with tickets available through Ticket2Me.
