Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay says discussions are underway as BINI rides Coachella high and earns honors from Senate, House.
Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay revealed that the Nation’s Girl Group BINI is being considered as potential tourism ambassadors for the Philippines—and yes, talks are already in motion.
The girls haven’t responded yet… because Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena are currently out of the country, touring the globe.
Still, Angara-Mathay made it clear that the government is more than ready to roll out the welcome mat once BINI returns.
“‘Di pa sila sumasagot because they are traveling… we’re just waiting for them to come back,” she shared in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
And honestly, the timing makes sense.
Fresh off their historic Coachella stage moment, the group has become one of the country’s most visible cultural exports right now.
Angara-Mathay also emphasized how proud the agency is of Filipino talents making waves abroad, especially those who carry the flag with them—something BINI has been doing very loudly and proudly.
“We are so proud that they unfurled the flag on the stage called Coachella,” she said. “We always put value on our talents who make a name for themselves and who are proud to wave our flag on the international stage.”
That growing recognition isn’t just coming from the DOT. In recent months, both the Senate and the House of Representatives have filed resolutions honoring BINI for their global achievements—from their international awards to their Coachella milestone. Lawmakers have cited the group’s role in elevating Filipino music on the world stage, effectively turning them into cultural ambassadors long before any formal title.
From chart-toppers to potential nation ambassadors? That’s one serious glow-up. Now we wait.
