“Drag Race PH” winner speaks on prejudice, says respect must start within amid viral hotel incident.
Maxie Andreison voices support for M1ss Jade So, sharing message on self-respect and resilience amid ongoing discrimination faced by LGBTQIA+ community.
Following the recent discrimination incident involving “Drag Race PH” Season 3 queen M1ss Jade So, winner Maxie has spoken up in support—while also sharing a grounded take on how to deal with prejudice.
In an exclusive interview with radar Entertainment, Maxie addressed the viral confrontation and pointed out the everyday reality many in the LGBTQIA+ community face. “I support Jade. Yes, alam ko masakit, ‘di ba? Araw-araw silang nakakatanggap ng diskriminasyon,” she said, stressing how often trans women, in particular, experience this.
While acknowledging how painful these situations can be, Maxie also underscored the need to hold on to self-respect. “Kailangan kasi natin ding respetuhin din ‘yung sarili natin bago tayo irespeto ng ibang tao,” she added, noting that it starts from within.
Her comments come after a tense May 30 incident at a Makati hotel, where M1ss Jade So—a trans woman and non-binary drag artist—was misgendered as “sir” by security staff and asked to cover up her Pride Night outfit, allegedly for being “inappropriate” in a hotel lobby with children present.
Jade later defended herself online, saying her drag is not nudity and that it’s up to parents to educate their children about different identities. She also called for the passage of the SOGIE Equality Bill and urged the hotel to implement gender sensitivity training for its staff.
