Sylvia Sanchez gets candid about “ImPerfect” cast, says actors with Down syndrome became her “light” during life’s toughest moments.
Award-winning actress and film producer Sylvia Sanchez said the “I’mPerfect” cast—individuals with Down syndrome, including Krystel Go and Earl Amaba—became her source of strength during a difficult chapter in her life.
In a June 13 Instagram post, Sylvia poured her heart out after being reunited with the group, whom she now considers part of her extended family and her “little angels.”
Overflowing with gratitude, she reflected on the special bond they share and the profound impact they have had on her life, saying: “I’m blessed beyond words.”
“Marahil hindi aksidente na pinagtagpo tayo ng Diyos. Pinili NIYA akong maging bahagi ng inyong buhay—upang kayo ay alagaan, suportahan, mahalin, at ipagmalaki,” she said.
“Kayo ang mga munting Angel na naging liwanag sa mga panahong pakiramdam ko ay hindi ko na kaya,” she continued. “Sa pamamagitan ng inyong mga yakap, ngiti, at walang kapantay na pagmamahal, muli ninyong pinaalala sa akin kung gaano kaganda ang buhay at kung gaano kabuti ang DIYOS.”
While many may think she is the one bringing love and care into their lives, Sylvia said it is the opposite: “Dumating kayo sa tamang panahon, sa panahong higit na kailangan ko kayo. At habang ako ang inaakala ng iba na nagbibigay sa inyo ng pagmamahal, ang totoo, kayo ang mas lalong nagbigay ng saya, pag-asa, at inspirasyon sa akin.”
Ending her heartfelt message with gratitude and faith, she said: “Maraming salamat, LORD, sa napakagandang biyayang ito. Tunay ngang may perpektong plano at tamang panahon ang DIYOS. Mahal ko kayo, at habambuhay ko kayong ipagmamalaki.”
Written and directed by Sigrid Bernardo, “I’mPerfect” made history at the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival as the first mainstream full-length feature starring actors with Down syndrome. It earned praise for its meaningful representation and storytelling.
The film won Best Picture, Best Actress for Krystel, and a Special Jury Prize for Best Ensemble Performance.
Supporting cast members include Sylvia Sanchez, Janice de Belen, Joey Marquez, Lorna Tolentino, Tonton Gutierrez, and Zaijan Jaranilla.
