PAGASA launches ‘PANaHON’ app for real-time weather alerts, forecasts

No more waiting for weather updates to appear on your social media feed.

State weather bureau PAGASA just launched PANaHON, an internet-powered mobile app that delivers real-time weather alerts and forecasts directly to users.

Launched during Typhoon and Flood Awareness Week (June 14 to 20), PANaHON—short for PAGASA National Hydro-Meteorological Observing Network—features three main sections: Observation, Forecast, and Maps.

Under Observation, users can access data from weather stations nationwide. By selecting a city, they can view current conditions such as temperature, humidity, heat index, rainfall, wind speed, and direction.

Forecast includes hourly updates with rainfall and heat index projections, along with a five-day outlook to help users plan ahead.

Maps provides an interactive radar showing rainfall intensity across the country, updated with near real-time data.

Beyond forecasts, PANaHON also sends direct alerts for tropical cyclones, thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and flooding. This eliminates the need to search through PAGASA’s social media pages or website for advisories.

PAGASA emphasized that disaster preparedness remains a shared responsibility among government agencies, communities, institutions, and individuals.

The PANaHON app is now available for download on Google Play Store and the App Store.
