Rosanna Roces, Ai-Ai delas Alas mend friendship after 24 years apart

Rosanna Roces and Ai-Ai delas Alas reconnect after decades-long rift, revealing the misunderstanding that ended their once-close friendship.

After 24 years of silence, award-winning actress Rosanna Roces and Comedy Queen Aiai delas Alas have finally reconciled.

Rosanna shared the emotional milestone on social media, posting a photo of herself with Ai-Ai and revealing that it was their first conversation since 2002.

“Pinaka masayang araw ko today. 2002 pa kami last nag-usap,” she wrote.

She later added, “All’s well that ends well. Mahal ko ’tong taong ’to.”

In a 2024 interview with Aiko Melendez, Rosanna reflected on their broken friendship, describing it as one she genuinely valued.

“Kasi ’yong pinagsamahan namin noon, totoo. Sobrang saya, sobrang nakakatawa,” she shared.

She explained that their falling out stemmed from a misunderstanding involving a third party, rather than a personal conflict between them.

According to Rosanna, both of them were scheduled to perform at a show in Dagupan at the height of their careers. She recalled that, without her knowledge, the event producer removed Ai-Ai’s image from the promotional poster, which allegedly caused hurt and led to their estrangement.

“Ang ginawa ng producer ko, na hindi ko naman alam, tinanggal siya sa poster. So, nang makita niya siguro, sumama ang loob niya,” Roces recalled.

Despite the fallout, Rosanna said she remains grateful that neither of them publicly spoke ill of the other over the years.

“‘Yon na. Nasira na ang samahan namin, na sobrang naging personal na. Pero hindi naman kami nagsiraan nang grabe,” she said.

Now, after more than two decades apart, Rosanna and Ai-Ai have finally mended their friendship, closing a long chapter of misunderstanding on a heartfelt note.
