Pilmico partners with TESDA and Infinity Vocational Training School to provide hands-on training and industry certification for aspiring meat processing workers.
Filipinos are set to gain more employment opportunities in the food industry after Pilmico Animal Nutrition Corp. partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Infinity Vocational Training School Inc. to offer hands-on meat-processing training.
Trainees will undergo practical instruction at Pilmico’s Tarlac Meatmasters facility, the country’s first multi-meat Triple AAA-accredited processing plant, where they will complete TESDA-certified courses in Slaughtering Operations and Retail Meat Cutting.
The initial rollout is expected to train up to 50 participants by year-end, with the company saying the partnership also supports efforts to improve food safety standards and strengthen the country’s meat supply chain through a better-trained workforce.
The program gives participants firsthand exposure to slaughtering, meat cutting, cold storage, and food safety practices. These skills are in demand across meat processing plants, supermarkets, restaurants, and food manufacturing companies in the Philippines and overseas.
For workers hoping to shift careers or qualify for overseas jobs, completing the training will also earn them a TESDA National Certificate II, a credential recognized by employers in the industry.
Pilmico said opening its facility for technical education will help bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-world industry experience while helping build a larger pool of skilled workers for the country’s livestock and meat sector.
