Program integrates Diageo Bar Academy modules into TESDA training as tourism targets higher-value visitors and demand for high-end hospitality grows.
Bartending in the Philippines is coming under growing pressure as hotels, bars, and tourism destinations lean further into experience-led service. Filipino bartenders are already known for creativity and flair, but industry attention is now turning to consistency, deeper technical grounding, and closer alignment with international bar standards as the country pushes further into premium tourism.
The timing comes as Philippine tourism places greater weight on attracting higher-value visitors, where spending is increasingly shaped by food, beverage, and service quality. Research from Oxford Economics points to stronger willingness to spend in destinations that deliver elevated hospitality experiences, underscoring the need for more advanced training for frontline talent.
To respond to this, Diageo Philippines and TESDA have launched the “Diageo Masterclass Series,” a structured training program designed to strengthen bartending craft through industry-led learning. The program integrates TESDA’s Bartending NC II curriculum with modules from the Diageo Bar Academy, covering modern mixology, spirits education, bar operations, customer engagement, marketing basics, and responsible service. It is designed to prepare learners for work in premium bars, luxury resorts, hotels, and international hospitality environments.
The initiative also brings together Diageo’s global programs such as Learning for Life and the Diageo Bar Academy, both focused on skills development and employability in hospitality.
The first batch begins in Q3 2026, with 25 students undergoing a three-week intensive run.
