Fresh from “Jesus Christ Superstar,” actress takes on iconic revolutionary role in “Gabriela: The Musical” opening November 2026.

Gab Pangilinan will play the titular role in Barefoot Theatre Collaborative’s upcoming original production, “Gabriela: The Musical.”

Fresh from her acclaimed run as Mary Magdalene in “Jesus Christ Superstar,” Pangilinan is set to bring the story of Gabriela Silang—the nation’s first female revolutionary leader who fought Spanish colonization—to the stage starting November 13, at Hyundai Hall, Areté in Quezon City.

Reflecting on the monumental role, Pangilinan admitted in a press statement that portraying such an iconic historical figure was never on her theater bingo card.

She said it is both an honor and a huge responsibility to originate the role, promising to “take care of her” alongside an incredible company as they prepare for the production.

A three-time Gawad Buhay nominee, Pangilinan rose to prominence after playing Young Joy in “Ang Huling El Bimbo: The Musical” in 2019 and 2023. Since then, she has become a staple in modern Philippine theater, with roles in “Mula sa Buwan” (2022), “The Last Five Years” (2023), and “Pingkian: Isang Musikal” (2024).

The highly anticipated show will run from November 13 to December 6, with tickets for the opening weekend already available online. As an added perk, early-bird buyers who purchase tickets from July 13 to August 17 will receive a complimentary souvenir program.

Peak performances—including Saturdays, Sunday matinees, and the December 6 closing night—are priced from ₱1,299 for Mezzanine seats up to ₱3,199 for VIP Orchestra. Thursday, Friday, and Sunday evening shows are slightly lower, ranging from ₱999 to ₱2,999 across the same seating sections.

More details about the rest of the cast and creative team will be announced in the coming weeks. For now, theatergoers can secure tickets through the group’s official Google Form and follow Barefoot Theatre Collaborative on Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok for updates.
