Laguindingan airport in Misamis Oriental ramps up modernization efforts

The main commercial airport serving CDO and Iligan is preparing for its next phase of upgrades to improve efficiency and support tourism, trade, investment, and business across Northern Mindanao.

Laguindingan International Airport in Misamis Oriental, which serves as the main commercial airport for Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, is preparing for its next phase of modernization, with upgrades aimed at improving efficiency and supporting tourism, trade, investment, and business across Northern Mindanao.

Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports said the improvements are aligned with Laguindingan’s Masterplan 2050, a 25-year development roadmap that seeks to expand economic activity, strengthen regional connectivity, and support sustainable growth.

The company, which took over airport operations in 2025, has already introduced terminal improvements, upgraded passenger facilities, better wayfinding, expanded customer assistance services, stronger operational systems, and international training for technical personnel. 

More upgrades are in the pipeline, including modernized airport systems, additional commercial spaces, digital features, and operational improvements designed to accommodate rising passenger traffic and improve overall airport efficiency.

Laguindingan’s Masterplan 2050 aims to strengthen the municipality’s role as a regional hub through infrastructure development, economic growth, environmental sustainability, and good governance. Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports said it will continue working with government agencies and local stakeholders as it carries out the airport’s long-term modernization program.
