Angela Ken joins as main guest as new generation of OPM creators showcase original music in rare spotlight on songwriters.
The Filipino Society of Composers Authors and Publishers is putting the spotlight where it rarely falls: on the people who write the songs.
Fifteen emerging songwriters from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have been selected to perform at Songwriter’s Night Select 2026, set for July 31 at the Music Museum.
The concert highlights a new generation of Filipino music creators whose original works reflect a wide range of voices, stories, and influences.
The lineup was chosen from FILSCAP’s Songwriter’s Night open mic series, with participants evaluated based on songwriting, originality, and live performance. They are the following in alphabetical order: AUXJUMP, Aw’te Amakeh, Eric Diao, Guava, Ivee Madamba, Jeffrey Yumol, Maria Perion, Maric Gavino, Off to Aurora, Roli Manalo, Si Mau ug J, Thon Monastrial, Toni Panagu, Veej, and Wyanet.
For many of the selected artists, the event marks their biggest platform yet, offering a chance to present their music to a broader audience and share the stories behind their songs.
The concert comes amid a shift in the local music scene, where more Filipino artists are independently writing, producing, and releasing their own material. While digital platforms have expanded access and visibility, competition remains steep.
FILSCAP said the event aims to encourage listeners to look beyond performers and recognize the creators shaping the future of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
Singer-songwriter Angela Ken will headline the evening as a special guest. Known for building her career through original songs shared online, Ken’s trajectory reflects the growing impact of authentic, songwriter-driven music in the mainstream.
Songwriter’s Night Select 2026 is part of the celebration of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino. The event underscores the role of songwriters in sustaining and evolving the local music industry, highlighting 15 new voices poised to make their mark.
The show begins at 7 PM at the Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan. Admission is free, with limited slots available on a first-come, first-served basis through FILSCAP’s official registration.
