Actress Cai Cortez is celebrating a milestone two decades in the making after finally earning her college degree while balancing work and raising two children as a single mother.
In an emotional Instagram post, Cortez shared that she has officially graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science major in Local Government Administration from the University of Makati (UMak), describing the achievement as the fulfillment of a long-held dream.
“20 years in the making. Mom and Dad, sana proud kayo kahit it took this long to give you a diploma,” she wrote.
The actress dedicated the accomplishment to her parents, expressing hope that they would be proud despite the long journey it took to finish her studies.
Cortez also thanked the University of Makati for giving opportunities to working students like herself.
“Will forever be grateful to UMak for giving opportunities to people like me na gustong makatapos kahit nagwo-work and solo mother of 2,” she said.
She likewise acknowledged those who helped make her return to school possible, including Sir Thad, whom she credited for enrolling her, and her best friend Tart Carlos. She also thanked her supporters from Team Cai, as well as Kim Cruz and Navi for helping her prepare for her graduation day.
“Officially a Bachelor of Science Political Science Major in Local Government Administration graduate,” she proudly announced.
