
Philippine financial markets closed mixed on Tuesday as stocks recovered above the 6,300 level while the peso gave up its previous gains and returned to the ₱61 range.
Philippine financial markets ended mixed on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, as the stock market rebounded while the peso weakened sharply against the US dollar.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) climbed 37.68 points, or 0.60%, to close at 6,326.89, recovering from the slight decline recorded in the previous trading session. The index moved back above the 6,300 level, suggesting the market regained momentum as buying interest returned following Monday’s modest pullback.
Peso returns to ₱61 range
The Philippine peso weakened, losing nearly 56 centavos to close at ₱61.26 against the US dollar, giving up the gains posted in the previous trading session.
The local currency reached an intraday high of ₱61.275, around 43 centavos weaker than Monday’s rate, returning to the ₱61 territory after briefly recovering to ₱60.705 in the previous session.
Tuesday’s session reflected diverging movements across Philippine financial markets. While local equities regained ground and moved back above the 6,300 level, the peso suffered a sharp reversal against the US dollar, highlighting continued volatility in the local financial markets.
