Content creator laments missed flight after being ‘two minutes lang’ late

The gate closed at 8:15 AM, while he and his companion arrived at 8:17 AM.

Volleyball coach Ryan Revita, better known online as Matabang Setter, drew criticism after complaining about missing his flight by two minutes.

In a Sept. 19 TikTok post, Revita said his companion, a certain Jason, could no longer board the flight—and that he may have been left behind as well.

“Na-late kami ng two minutes,” he said. “Kasi hindi lang namin alam kung saan kami. Nagtanong lang kami kung saan ‘yong gate, nagtanong kami kung saan magche-check in. Kumain siya ng two minutes.”

He said they arrived at 8:17 AM, while the gate had closed at 8:15 AM. They then had to rebook their flight.

“Grabe, two minutes lang,” he said. “Ok lang kung 30 minutes, 50 minutes. Two minutes, guys.”

“Grabe kayo, two minutes,” he added.

Commenters, however, reminded Revita that passengers are expected to be at the airport ahead of their flight and that gate-closing times are not the same as departure times.

“Hello, Coach. Alam mo kung gaano kahalaga ang time at ang pagiging punctual. It doesn’t excuse anyone,” one user said.

A commenter who claimed to be a former airport worker explained that timing is crucial in airline operations, as ground crews have several procedures to complete before an aircraft can depart.

“Marami pong docs na icocomply before the aircraft can take-off,” the user said. “As for the delay naman, marami po talagang factors causing the delay, and safety is our utmost priority po. Though, meron talagang instances, lalo na sa low-cost airlines na may poor customer service handling lalo na sa pag explain sa passengers.”

In a repost on X, however, online personality Julian Miguel called out Revita for what he described as a “loser attitude.”

“There’s a reason why airlines remind you to be at the airport 3-4 hours before your flight time. Stop broadcasting stupidity and excuse my french katangahan,” he said.

Users in the comments also criticized Revita over the complaint.

“This is part of the Pinoy culture that I ABHOR! If it says the gate closes at 9:00 AM but did at 8:59, sue them! But if you got there at 9:02, don’t f*cking complain and expose your stupidity!” one user said.

“Attitude is very pinoy entitled. Always looking for ‘consideration,'” another user said.
