The comedienne and mother called for private reconciliation, emphasizing the well-being of Patrick’s neurodivergent son.

Actress-comedienne Candy Pangilinan weighed in on Patrick Garcia’s tell-all about his 2008 split from Jennylyn Mercado, saying the actor should have sought a private conversation before sharing his side publicly.

Speaking from the perspective of a mother raising a neurodivergent child, Candy said Patrick could have first approached Jennylyn and their son, Alex Jazz, away from the public eye.

She also hoped Patrick had been given the chance to meet Jazz and have a sincere conversation with him.

“Jazz is a child, a neurodivergent, and will always be a child. He will have all the chances to be a friend to this child,” Candy said in an interview on GTV’s Sunday night talk show ‘Kalurks!’

Patrick broke his 18-year silence in a late-September interview with Ogie Diaz, claiming he did not abandon Jennylyn during her pregnancy and saying he stayed away because she did not want him involved.

He explained that he decided to speak publicly after his daughter Michelle received online hate and bashing connected to the issue.

Jennylyn’s agency, Aguila Entertainment, later said she chose not to engage in interviews to protect the peace and privacy of both families. Dennis, meanwhile, also addressed the public chatter and called for an end to online hostility.

For Candy, however, the conversation goes beyond the adults involved.

Her own experience as a mother to Quentin, who has ADHD and autism, has shaped much of her advocacy and parenting journey. This informed her call for Patrick to approach Jazz not just as a father, but first as someone willing to “be a friend to this child.”
