Madam Pilikitok, a Romblon-based fashion designer known for her high-end gowns made from upcycled materials, impressed netizens—and tugged at their heartstrings—with a mango leaf creation she made with her parents.
In an Aug. 9 Facebook Reel, Madam Pilikitok’s parents can be seen helping her into the dress, adjusting its butterfly sleeves and headdress before her video shoot.

“Napaka swerte ko na meron akong kayu, bilang lang ang mga magulang na tanggap ang mga anak na katulad ko, sukat ko daw ang gown na gawa sa dahon ng mangga bago e videoshoot,” she wrote in the caption.
Days earlier, she shared glimpses of how the gown came together, from her parents gathering and plucking mango leaves to her showing them her fashion sketches, sorting the leaves, and carefully attaching the dried pieces to the dress.
She unveiled the finished creation on Aug. 10, posing among the fields in a video that had the feel of a Miss Universe delegate profile.
Madam Pilikitok first made waves in 2021 with a ball gown made from banana leaves. She later expanded her designs to rice sacks, palm leaves, corn husks, and dried plants.
Her previous showcase in July featured a dress handcrafted by her father using luway, a tiger grass widely found in Romblon and commonly used to make walis tambo.
She also took a design course at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and won a silver medal in a TESDA-organized design and dressmaking contest.
