radar learned the thefts began in September; he said police “refused” to document his complaint.

Nearly a month after Chef Myke “Tatung” Sarthou said police had refused to document his burglary complaint in September, the National Police Commission is stepping in to investigate the matter.

Hours after radar Business reported the incident on Oct. 17, as Sarthou aired his grievances online, NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Ralph Calinisan replied to radar’s Facebook post, confirming that the agency is already in touch with Sarthou and his team.

“I confirm that we are already in touch with Chef Tatung and his team. We will investigate, and the necessary charges will be filed,” Calinisan wrote.

“Ang pagpasa-pasahan ang isang complainant is totally unacceptable. NAPOLCOM is on top of this matter,” he added.

Attached to the Department of the Interior and Local Government, NAPOLCOM exercises administrative control and operational supervision over the Philippine National Police.

In his post, Sarthou alleged that police had refused to document his complaint after his home in Baras, Rizal, was burglarized. He estimated his losses and property damage at around ₱4 million.

He shared a video showing the ransacked property, with belongings scattered across the floor of his stripped-bare living room. Some items and parts of the room appeared broken or destroyed, while bottles of gin were visible among the clutter.

“We’ve made several visits to police stations, only to be passed from one station to another for days. Nobody seems willing to take responsibility. Nobody wants to receive our report, much less investigate,” he said in his post.

Sarthou told radar Business that the thefts began on Sept. 25 and were immediately reported to barangay officials and police in Antipolo and Baras.

He identified Baras Police Station, Kabading Police Station in Antipolo, and the Baras police community precinct as the offices where they sought assistance.

However, Sarthou said they still had no police report because the police station “refuses to document our complaint.” He said they were nevertheless advised not to “contaminate the site.”

He also claimed that a suspect had been apprehended by barangay personnel but was later released “due to no police response.”
