Multi-award-winning Filipino chef and restaurateur Myke “Tatung” Sarthou today welcomed diners to the soft opening of his newest restaurant, Tatung’s, at Gateway 2 Mall in Araneta City, Cubao.

The new dining concept marks another milestone for the celebrity chef, whose growing portfolio of restaurants has made him one of the most recognizable names in Philippine gastronomy.

Photos and posts shared online showed customers flocking to the restaurant during its first day of operations. Many expressed excitement about finally trying dishes from the chef known for making Filipino cooking more accessible through his hugely popular Simpol platform.

Some diners shared that they had been looking forward to the opening after seeing announcements on social media, while others welcomed the chance to enjoy Chef Tatung’s food in a more accessible mall setting.

Sarthou is widely regarded as one of the country’s leading culinary personalities. Born and raised in Cebu, he first worked as a journalist and in the music industry before pursuing a full-time career in food. He later built a loyal following through Simpol, a multimedia cooking platform dedicated to teaching practical and approachable recipes to Filipino home cooks.

Beyond television and digital media, Chef Tatung is also an award-winning cookbook author whose titles have received international recognition at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

He is likewise the culinary force behind several restaurant concepts, including Azadore, Pandan Asian Café, and Lore Manila, the contemporary Filipino restaurant in Bonifacio Global City that recently earned a Michelin Selected distinction in the inaugural Michelin Guide Philippines.

With Tatung’s now opening its doors in Cubao, fans of the chef have another destination to experience his signature approach to Filipino food—one that combines heritage, comfort, and the simplicity that made him a household name.
