Filipino netizens spot a hilarious fashion resemblance between Martin’s JAG Jeans look and the older Miguel Rivera in “Coco 2.”
Leave it to Filipino netizens to turn a major Pixar reveal into a very Pinoy “wait, parang nakita ko na ’yan” moment.
After the first look at an older Miguel Rivera in the upcoming “Coco 2” surfaced online, a Facebook post gained traction for pointing out the animated character’s surprising fashion resemblance to actor Coco Martin.
“Kaya pala parang pamilyar yung pormahan eh, si Coco nga talaga,” the post joked.
The comparison placed the teenage Miguel beside an old JAG Jeans advertisement featuring Martin.
And the porma does line up.
In the JAG ad, Martin sports a dark denim jacket, jeans and neatly styled hair. The “Coco 2” image similarly shows a now-older Miguel in a denim-heavy outfit, with styled dark hair and his familiar guitar strapped to his back.
The visual joke becomes even funnier because of the names: Coco Martin beside a character from “Coco.”
Of course, there is no actual connection between Martin’s old fashion campaign and the character design. The comparison is simply another example of Filipino netizens finding humor in an unexpected resemblance.
Still, once you see the side-by-side comparison, it can be difficult to unsee.
Miguel grew up, discovered denim—and somehow ended up with the pormahan of Coco Martin.
