Mama and ate duo featuring the classic duster during Retashow Twinning Edition.

Bringing nostalgia to the contemporary catwalk. Sophia Ysabelle Servando, a finalist at  Retashow: QC’s Catwalk to Sustainability “Twinning Edition” launched by the Quezon City Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (CCESD), serves Filipino everyday wear you’ve seen before, with a concept of “Kasama si Mama: Keeping memories alive with the passing down of traditions and garments.”

This isn’t just fashion, it’s a tribute to the Filipino home. By upcycling household linens such as old curtains, well-loved table cloths, and the classic duster, Sophia transforms memories into wearable art. These textiles represent the heart of the home, traditionally used by our mothers and sisters.

Through this sustainable collection, Sophia showcases her designs and creates new life into the fabrics that witnessed our childhood, proving that scraps from our old clothes and household linens can also be used to create a new “pambahay.”

Talk about how sustainability meets sentimentality. In a world of fast fashion, Sophia reminds us that the most beautiful pieces are often the ones that carry a story.
