MAP announced its first branch in Glorietta along with the new franchise agreement.

The first Marks and Spencer store under new Philippine franchisee PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk has been spotted in Glorietta 3 in Makati City, building excitement among loyal customers for the refreshed franchise.

On August 26, a Threads user spotted a vacant space at Glorietta 3 bearing the Marks and Spencer store name. No opening date was listed, only the words “Opening Soon.”

MAP signed a new franchise agreement for Marks and Spencer’s Philippine stores on June 8, taking over the local franchise from Rustan Marketing Specialists.

SSI Group, Rustan’s parent company, operated the British retail chain’s local stores for over 40 years before closing its remaining stores on May 3. SSI said it exited the franchise amid shifting consumer preferences.

MAP had already announced its first branch in Glorietta along with the new franchise agreement. The old M&S branch in the same mall was previously located in Glorietta 4, making a noticeable transfer to a different wing amid major renovations in the retail complex.

Filipinos have come to love M&S for its fashion picks, food products, and gift items, especially during the holiday season. Many shoppers rushed to shop the clearance sales at the old M&S stores in light of the closure announcement, with many similarly relieved upon hearing the new franchise announcement.
