Fuel prices set to rise on June 9 as diesel, gasoline, and kerosene post increases

Diesel leads with ₱4.85/L hike, while gasoline and kerosene also move higher in latest adjustment cycle.

Fuel prices are set to go up again starting 6 AM on Tuesday, June 9, with diesel expected to post the biggest increase of the cycle.

Based on the Department of Energy’s computation, diesel may rise by ₱3.77 to ₱5.77 per liter, reversing the relief seen in the previous adjustment.

Gasoline is expected to move in mixed directions, with a possible decrease of ₱1.70 per liter or an increase of up to ₱0.30 per liter depending on the product and brand. Kerosene, meanwhile, is seen to go up by ₱6.10 to ₱8.10 per liter.

After the adjustment takes effect, diesel is expected to average around ₱87.50 per liter, while gasoline will settle at around ₱86.20 per liter. Kerosene is projected to average around ₱132 per liter.

If these levels hold, diesel will once again become more expensive than gasoline, reversing the traditional pricing pattern seen in more stable fuel markets, outside periods of supply pressure.

Oil firms have started releasing advisories ahead of the adjustment.

Shell Pilipinas Corp. said its price changes, effective 6 a.m. on June 9, include a ₱4.85 per liter increase for diesel, a ₱0.30 per liter increase for gasoline, and a ₱4.75 per liter increase for kerosene.

Unioil also announced adjustments, with Euro Diesel increasing by ₱4.90 per liter and Euro Gasoline rising by ₱0.30 per liter, effective at the same time.

The latest movement marks a reversal from the previous week’s rollback-driven relief, once again highlighting the volatility of global oil markets and its direct impact on local pump prices.
