Singer-songwriter Gabri Panlilio embraces her most unapologetic era yet with “Sick and Tired,” a bold new single and music video starring Japanese actress Maria Ozawa, premiering on MYX and YouTube.

Rising singer-songwriter Gabri Panlilio is stepping into her boldest chapter yet.

With the upcoming release of the music video for her latest single, “Sick and Tired,” Gabri declares a new era—one that is raw, unfiltered, and unapologetically her.

Adding buzz to the project is the casting of Japanese actress Maria Ozawa whose role in the video amplifies the song’s message about judgment, hypocrisy, and authenticity.

A new era of authenticity and creative freedom

Describing the track as her “most unapologetic” work to date, Gabri opened up about the personal evolution behind the music.

“If I were to compare my music now to before, I feel like I’m more real, more genuine, and more unapologetic,” she shared. “Before, I think I was kind of a people pleaser. I cared so much about what people thought, how I sounded or what my lyrics were like. But now I just want to do what I love because I’m more me.”

For Gabri, artistry comes without restrictions. “When it comes to artistry, there are no rules. Everybody has their own way of expressing their art,” she said, embracing creative freedom as the backbone of her growth.

In “Sick and Tired,” that freedom takes center stage not just sonically, but visually. Maria Ozawa portrays a character judged harshly by so-called “Titos and Titas of Manila,” those who pray devoutly yet criticize others for their past.

“Her role reflects people who pray a lot but don’t practice what they preach,” Gabri explained candidly. “It’s okay to pray, but do good to people. In the video, she’s judged based on her past despite their religiosity. That’s how unapologetic this is.”

The message is clear: authenticity over approval.

“Like, I don’t care, bash me, hate me, this is me. It’s more, no filter,” Gabri declared.

Beyond its bold visuals and commentary, “Sick and Tired” carries a deeply personal reminder. Gabri wrote the song as a message of comfort for anyone navigating difficult seasons.

“My vision is to let people know they are not alone in this journey,” she said. “There are days we can be sick and tired. There are days we don’t feel like ourselves, but healing is a journey. Those days don’t define your worth.”

From classical roots to contemporary mainstream success

Though new to the mainstream scene, Gabri’s musical foundation runs deep. She has been singing since the age of nine and is currently studying music, immersing herself in pop culture, musical theater, classical music, and opera.

Her appreciation for French, German, and especially Italian opera informs her distinct vocal texture and storytelling style.

Her international exposure includes performing for ChildAid Asia, where she had the opportunity to sing before the Princess of Japan. She has also lent her talents to the Philippine Opera Company and Repertory Philippines, bridging classical discipline and contemporary sensibility.

In 2024, she released music that included her single “Calm,” now available on digital streaming platforms. She recently shot its music video, which promises to explore the different dimensions of beauty and the pressures women face in achieving it.

Balancing her love for opera with anime, Pokémon, and pop culture, Gabri represents a new generation of artists classically trained yet culturally fluent. As 2025 unfolds, she signals that she is ready to take up space without apology.

And with “Sick and Tired,” Gabri isn’t asking for permission anymore; she’s owning her narrative.

The music video premiered on MYX on February 13 and was released on YouTube on February 14.
