G22 member AJ shares exciting updates on the group’s self-produced music, personal growth, and long-term goals as the P-pop female trio continues to rise and redefine what it means to be an “alpha.”

P-pop continues to gain momentum on the global stage, and among the groups driving that surge is G22, widely known as “P-pop’s Female Alphas.” With their fierce image, evolving sound, and growing fanbase, the trio AJ, Alfea, and Jaz has steadily carved out its own space in the local music scene.

In a recent interview with radar Entertainment, AJ offered a glimpse into what fans can expect next from the group, teasing new music and fresh creative directions already in motion.

“I’m doing so great. We’re doing so great with work. Thank you, Lord. Just training everyday and new music coming ahead,” she shared, reflecting the group’s current focus on preparation and consistency.

G22 teases self-produced album and new creative direction

What sets their upcoming release apart is how deeply personal it is. AJ revealed that the new material is entirely self-produced, with all members actively involved in the songwriting process.

“So ‘yung music namin is self-produced. We all wrote, and we all had contributions to this album. It’s our personal story,” she said. The project enabled their individual experiences and perspectives to shape the album’s identity.

Since debuting in February 2022 with the single “Bang,” G22 has built a reputation for bold concepts and empowering themes. Dubbed “P-pop’s Female Alphas,” the group has redefined strength in their own terms, something AJ says is central to their music.

“Malawak siya. Noong na-dissect namin ang pinapakita niya, ang pagiging ‘alpha,’ hindi lang pagiging malakas, kundi palaban ka din kung ina-accept mo ang emotions mo, and vulnerable ka rin,” she explained, emphasizing that vulnerability and emotional honesty are just as powerful as confidence.

With opportunities arriving quickly, AJ admitted that everything has moved at a fast pace, but the group is choosing to stay present and appreciate the journey.

“Ang bilis ng mga pangyayari and we’re just enjoying every bit of a moment,” she shared.

Outside of work, AJ makes a conscious effort to stay grounded by surrounding herself with people who truly know her. Maintaining balance, she said, is essential amid demanding schedules.

“Kasi ’yong mga friends ko, they keep you grounded. Alam nila kung sino ka talaga, from the core,” she said.

Growth has been a recurring theme for the group, not only musically, but personally as well.

“Marami—like how we think, how we see life. Nag-mature rin kami along the way, and it shows in our music and in this album,” AJ reflected.

Navigating fame and future aspirations: G22’s first solo concert

As visibility increases, so does criticism. AJ shared a level-headed perspective on dealing with bashers, choosing discernment over distraction.

“It’s really good if you know how to filter things because there are good comments as well. There are negative ones—you take what’s constructive, and then there are those na mema lang. So you really have to ‘filter’ the comments. Just always be true to yourself and do what you want, as long as wala kang tinatapakang tao and you stay positive in what you do,” she said.

Despite their growing popularity, AJ stressed that the group avoids labeling themselves as “sikat,” opting instead for humility and a beginner’s mindset.

“We would never say na sikat kami because nagsisimula pa rin kami. Feeling namin, we went back to treating every day na parang nagpapakilala kami palagi, kasi not everyone know us,” she shared.

Looking ahead to 2026, one milestone stands out as a major aspiration for the group. “Siguro kung matutuloy, it would be our very first concert,” AJ revealed.

“We’ve never had a concert, iyong kami so that’s what I look forward to, sana this year,” she added.

While some plans remain under wraps, AJ hinted that more is already in motion. “I can’t say yet, but it’s part of the plan. And, yes, I’m looking forward to it,” she declared.

Currently signed under Cornerstone Entertainment, G22 officially debuted on February 25, 2022. Originally a four-member group, they now continue as a trio following Bianca’s departure in September 2023 for personal and family reasons.

To date, G22 has released 12 original tracks, including fan favorites “I Hate Boys,” “One Sided Love,” “LOKA,” and “Musika.”
