Catriona Gray, Piolo Pascual, Aquino Plotado and more honored for elevating Filipino excellence on the world stage.:
The Global Filipino Star Icon Awards proved once again that Filipino excellence travels well—very well, in fact, all the way to Dubai.
Held at the Kempinski Central Avenue last January 31, the glittering affair gathered global leaders, icons, and rising changemakers, all united by one thing: proudly carrying the Filipino name on the world stage.
The night honored personalities whose influence cuts across entertainment, media, fashion, business, education, and public service. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray was recognized as Global Icon of Beauty, Advocacy and Culture, while Piolo Pascual received the Lifetime Achievement in Filipino Arts and Global Representation Award—because some legacies don’t retire, they just get shinier.
Global Filipino Legacy Award for Film, Real Estate and Philanthropy
Among the most talked-about honorees was Aquino Plotado, who received the Global Filipino Legacy Award for Film, Real Estate and Philanthropy. His citation highlighted not just his multi-industry footprint, but also his consistent commitment to giving back—locally and internationally.
The recognition comes amid a strong run for Plotado. In January 2025, his film “As The Call, So The Echo” earned international attention at the 11th Emirates Film Festival in Dubai, winning Best Actor for Enzo Pineda and Best Director for Rusty Palacio Guarin.

In June 2025, he sealed a landmark 1-billion AED beachfront development deal in Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah, through an exclusive partnership with fäm Properties.
‘Success feels better when shared’
But beyond business and film, education remains close to Plotado’s heart. In March 2025, he organized a PHP 3-million alumni and community event for his alma mater, donating PHP 1 million to the school and personally giving cash gifts to former teachers and batchmates. He also donated printers, a sound system, a service van, and an e-bike to Potrero National High School in Malabon City—proof that success feels better when shared.
Other honorees included Atom Araullo, Ricky Reyes, Renee Salud, Rian Fernandez, Carl E. Balita, Zeinab Harake, Glenda Dela Cruz, and Pia Marie Yanson, each recognized for shaping their respective fields.
More than a ceremony, the Global Filipino Star Icon Awards served as a reminder: Filipino excellence isn’t just being noticed globally—it’s being celebrated, applauded, and very much in demand.
In January 2025, Plotado’s film “As The Call, So The Echo” won awards for Best Actor award for Enzo Pineda and Best Director trophy for Rusty Palacio Guarin.
