The iconic early-2000s love team collaborates on a Valentine’s 2027 film directed by Prats.
Heart Evangelista and John Prats are set to reunite on the big screen after 23 years, with their upcoming untitled JoHeart film slated for release in February 2027.
Produced by Cornerstone Studios and directed by Prats himself, the film marks the former reel-and-real-life couple’s first major on-screen collaboration since their early 2000s projects, including “G-Mik,” “Trip,” “Ang Tanging Ina,” and “My First Romance.”
Describing the project, Heart said their reunion felt almost destined.
“I just need one perfect movie and then I’ll come back. Actually, mga 3 years na kaming nag-uusap pero hindi talaga,” she said, referring to previous scripts pitched to her.
“This one, it was magical and it was again destiny na si John yung makakasama ko,” she added. “Kahit more than 20 years kaming hindi nagkita, parang memorize pa namin ‘yong steps to go back to each other. This movie is just so perfect for us.”
Heart also teased the film’s take on first love: “You think that your first love is something shallow and fleeting but it is so much deeper than that… How pure love is just so intense.”
Prats, meanwhile, said he wanted his return to film to be a project he truly believed in.
“If ever na may pelikulang gagawin ko mismo, if ever it’s gonna be my first movie, gusto ko ‘yong gustong gusto ko talaga… wala nang perfect project for that kundi ito. It’s so unexpected.”
The February release will coincide with their birth months and the Valentine season.
Fans echoed the nostalgia, with one writing, “Iba pa rin talaga ang first love. Hinding hindi mawawala yan.”
Another joked, “Kaya kung ako sayo Sen Chiz, magfocus ka muna talaga sa trabaho mo sa senado.”
Both have since moved forward with their respective families, with Prats married to actress Isabel Oli and Heart married to Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
