Modern romance meets Filipino heart in Netflix’s upcoming series, starring Kathryn Bernardo, Maja Salvador, and James Reid.

Netflix’s upcoming original series “Someone, Someday” is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Filipino releases of 2026, blending romance, intrigue, and the digital age of dating.

At the center of it all is Kathryn Bernardo, who plays Billy, a go-getter and CEO designing a matchmaking app while still searching for her own “the one.”

“I’m still getting to know the character day by day,” Kathryn shared during a media gathering announcing Netflix’s 2026 lineup. “I’m being patient with myself because I want to give myself that time to warm up and understand Billy more than anyone else. I’m just enjoying it, and my directors, the cast, and the whole staff are here to support everyone. So yeah, I’m very excited.”

The series is codirected by Chad Vidanes and Dolly Dulu, and for Kathryn, returning to TV after her 2022 series “Too Good To Be True” has been a different kind of challenge. “When you’re doing a movie, it’s different. Then a series… It’s also different. A bit of warming up, and I can say I’m still in that process,” she said.

A powerhouse cast makes a grand return

Joining her are Maja Salvador and James Reid, both of whom admit they’re approaching their characters with care. Maja, who returns to acting after giving birth, plays Abi, a layered, secretive character that pushes her craft in new ways. “I’ve played strong characters before, but this one is more interesting, more complex. My life experiences helped me better understand her choices and motivations,” Maja said.

Kathryn, Maja, and James discuss their complex, layered roles in “Someone, Someday” during Netflix’s 2026 lineup announcement.

For James, this marks his first television project in over seven years, and he is bringing more than acting to the role. “There’s been a lot of nerves,” he admitted, “but we have such an amazing cast and directors. I’ve connected a lot with my character Jordan—he’s like a true best friend, always there for you. And he loves music, so I actually get to inject my own music into the show, even writing one of the songs for it.”

“Someone, Someday” promises a story that’s both modern and heartfelt, exploring the complexities of digital-age romance while staying true to Filipino core values. Director Vidanes says the series aims to showcase “how we love” to a global audience.

With three of local showbiz’s biggest names at the helm, this series is poised to be a standout on Netflix’s growing slate of local originals in 2026.
