You can avoid paying baggage fees by arriving in Japan with a pre-packed, climate-ready closet.

Japanese apartment-hotel brand MIMARU is taking its “family-first” philosophy to new heights through a partnership with Sumitomo Corporation. Starting January 19, 2026, international visitors can utilize the “Any Wear, Anywhere” service—a clothing-sharing platform designed to eliminate the stress of packing and the environmental cost of heavy luggage. Families, who comprise over 90 percent of MIMARU’s international guests, are the target audience for this initiative.

The service allows travelers to reserve climate-appropriate clothing sets online before they leave home. Direct delivery of the selected items, including options for children, to their MIMARU hotel room ensures they are ready upon arrival. After use, guests simply return the clothing in Japan, freeing up suitcase space and avoiding the hassle of packing bulky seasonal wear.

How the service works

The process is designed to be as frictionless as a standard hotel booking:

  1. Online Reservation: Guests visit the Any Wear, Anywhere website at least two weeks before their trip (reservations opened January 7, 2026).
  2. Selection: Users select sets based on size (80 cm to 3XL), gender, and the current season (Winter, Summer, or Spring/Autumn).
  3. Arrival: The laundered, high-quality clothing is waiting at the MIMARU front desk upon check-in.
  4. Return: At the end of the stay, guests simply place the items back in their designated bags and return them to the hotel reception.

This innovation is an example of Unconsumed: Consumption is turned on its head trend by TrendWatching.com. The 2020s will be the defining decade in the global quest towards a more sustainable future, with experts agreeing the climate battle will be won or lost in Asia. For millions in the region, heightened concerns around ESG issues are already driving a shift towards more conscious consumption, but many won’t want to compromise on a better quality of life. Brands should lead with purpose and educate, enable, and empower consumers to adopt the sustainable lifestyles they aspire to.

Aimed at reducing aviation carbon footprints, the “Any Wear, Anywhere” service at MIMARU hotels provides a circular fashion solution for the modern, eco-conscious family.
