Kim Chiu filed a qualified theft complaint against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, after discovering alleged financial discrepancies in their business, submitting evidence and a sworn statement to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
TV host-actress Kim Chiu has formally brought a complaint against her sister Lakambini Chiu, following the discovery of alleged financial irregularities tied to one of her business ventures.
Accompanied by her legal team, Atty. Xylene Dolor and Atty. Archernar Gregana, Kim personally went to the Office of the Assistant City Prosecutor in Quezon City to file the case and submit her sworn statement along with supporting documents and evidence.
In a statement released Monday published by ABS-CBN News, Kim said she pursued the case to uphold transparency and protect her company’s interests. She emphasized that the move came after “extensive internal scrutiny.”
According to Kim, “After months of reviewing the situation, I had to make an extremely painful decision. Filing a qualified theft case against my sister, Lakambini Chiu, was not something I took lightly. This has been one of the hardest moments of my life.”
Chiu added that she felt compelled to speak publicly “with a heavy heart,” acknowledging the supporters who have stood by her throughout both her career and her business pursuits. Kim ended her message by thanking the public for their patience, understanding, and respect.
Her lawyers confirmed that the discrepancies stemmed from a business shared by the sisters, though they declined to name which venture. “Hindi pa kami authorized maglabas ng mga detalye, pero sa tingin ko, alam naman ng fans kung alin sa mga business ventures ang konektado dito,” Kim said through her legal counsel Dolor.
Rumors regarding tension between the Chiu siblings had circulated for months, with fans speculating that the issue involved Kim’s bag line. The legal team clarified that the complaint covers transactions within the current fiscal year, specifically 2025, but declined to elaborate further.

When asked about Lakambini’s involvement, Dolor merely explained that the elder Chiu was “part of the management,” without providing additional specifics.
Kim was joined during the filing by her sister Twinkle and her brother-in-law. According to her legal counsel, the family had made several attempts to resolve the matter privately before Kim ultimately chose to pursue legal action.
