“Kuya Kim, ano na?” meets “This is LAAAAANS!”
Kuya Kim Atienza has teamed up with rising content creator LANS for an upcoming episode of “Dami Mong Alam Kuya Kim” on GMA Network, set to air on June 27.
“@thisislans_ is naturally passionate, knowledgeable, and charming. I know she will go a long, long way. Keep on inspiring, laaaaans!” Kuya Kim wrote in a June 26 Facebook post.
Her sudden popularity, however, revived discussions on “pretty privilege.” Some users also compared her to other female creators.
Female creators are often scrutinized in ways their male counterparts are not, with their visibility dissected, questioned, and, at times, diminished.
LANS addressed the issue directly, rejecting narratives that pit female creators against one another.
“Hindi ko po ma-consider na achievement ‘yong pagtaas ng followers kung may mga kababaihan naman pong ibinababa para lang may maitaas”
She also emphasized that respect should not be conditional on how a woman dresses, behaves, or presents herself online—whether an educational creator, a conservative, an outspoken, feminine, or someone who’s simply confident in posting her photos.
The collaboration with Kuya Kim is only logical, as they share the same goal of making learning engaging and accessible. Despite their different styles and generations, both have built audiences by simplifying complex topics for Filipino viewers.
