The Kapuso star says she wants Zia and Ziggy to learn that money is earned, saved, and spent with purpose.

For Marian Rivera-Dantes, raising financially responsible children starts long before they have their own bank accounts.

The Kapuso “Primetime Queen” and official brand ambassador of the Palawan Group of Companies opened up about how she and husband Dingdong Dantes are teaching their children the value of money, discipline, and intentional spending.

“Lumaki kasi ako na nasa lola ako… bawat kinikita ko pinapahalagahan ko,” Marian shared. “Yon ‘yong gusto ko i-implement sa mga anak ko, na ‘yong kinikita ko dapat inaalagaan.”

She wants her children to understand not just how to spend, but how to prioritize. “Kailangan malaman nila kung paano unti-unting gastusin, ipunin, ano bang mahalaga,” she said.

Marian admitted that her own approach to money has changed over the years. “Dati bibili ako kung anong gusto ko. Ngayon, ang iniisip ko intentional na… kung paano namin masusuportahan yung future naming pamilya.”

At home, she and Dingdong have introduced a point system for household chores, allowing their children to associate responsibilities with discipline and practical life skills.

As for when their daughter Zia could begin learning about managing money, Marian suggested around 13 years old—not necessarily by giving her cash, but by helping her understand its value.

“May gusto ka? Pagtrabahuhan mo para pag nasayo, aalagaan mo,” she said.

Interestingly, Marian admitted that she and Dingdong have never formally discussed the matter as a couple. Still, her philosophy is clear, financial literacy starts with learning that money is earned, saved, and cared for, not simply spent.
