Filipino singer Matty Juniosa concluded a historic run on Britain’s Got Talent Season 19, securing a highly respectable fourth place during Sunday’s live grand final.

The 27-year-old Mandaluyong City native, who currently resides in Glasgow while studying musical theater at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, delivered a deeply moving rendition of Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” for his final performance. Juniosa’s journey to the finals was nothing short of spectacular, marked by a rare double Golden Buzzer achievement. He first stunned the auditorium during auditions with a powerhouse cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” earning Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer, before capturing Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer in the semi-finals with a soaring performance of Aerosmith’s “Dream On.”

Despite delivering what judges called a vocal masterclass, Juniosa fell just short of the crown after a nationwide public vote saw the folk-based Hawkstone Farmers Choir take home the £250,000 grand prize, followed by drone art collective Celestial in second and dance duo Anastasiia and Salsa in third.

This international milestone marks a massive leap for Juniosa, who first entered the public eye as a Top 12 finalist on the inaugural season of Idol Philippines in 2019 and later performed with the vocal trio iDolls.

While working part-time as a waiter to support his studies abroad, he has steadily built a theatrical career with roles in “Kinky Boots” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, and he is next slated to join the West End production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”.
