Labor force participation increased to 65.1%, while underemployment remained a challenge for millions of Filipino workers.
More Filipinos joined the labor force in June, but many workers continued to look for ways to improve their income and employment situation.
The labor force participation rate rose to 65.1% in June from 63.8% in May, representing 53.25 million Filipinos aged 15 and above who were either working or actively looking for work.
However, underemployment remained a challenge, with 6.11 million workers seeking additional hours, another job, or longer working arrangements.
The underemployment rate stood at 12.1% in June, slightly lower than 12.2% in May but higher than 11.4% a year earlier.
The figures show that having a job remains only one part of the employment story, as many Filipino workers continue to seek opportunities that can provide more stable and sufficient income.
