The Philippine peso weakened by 2 centavos to close at ₱62.565 against the US dollar on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, extending its slight retreat from the previous session.
The local currency touched an intraday low of ₱62.62, weakening by 6.5 centavos compared to Monday’s intraday trough of ₱62.555, as the peso remained held within the ₱62 mark.
Equities extend losses for second straight session
Meanwhile, the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) dropped 50.47 points, or 0.87%, to close at 5,738.40, extending its decline for a second straight session. The index remained grounded below the 6,000 threshold.
Tuesday’s session reflected continued weakness across local financial markets as investors stayed cautious. The PSEi faced persistent downward pressure to stay pinned near its monthly lows, while the peso edged slightly lower to maintain its range past the ₱62 level against the dollar.
