This year’s Butlak celebrates Negros’ creative industry and its ties beyond the province.

The 40th Negros Trade Fair officially opens Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig—bringing the creativity and craftsmanship of Negros to Manila.

This year’s theme, Butlak, the Hiligaynon for “bloom,” celebrates how Negros’ creative industries have flourished over the decades. It also spotlights communities that share creative and cultural ties with the province.

A total of 178 brands are featured this year, spanning fashion, furniture, home crafts, and food.

The fair, which lasts until Sunday, Sept. 27, kicks off with the ringing of the arima, the traditional morning bell once used across Negros’ sugarcane fields to signal the start of a day’s work.
