Negros talent Eddie dela Peña breaks into global VFX scene with Olivia Rodrigo’s “The Cure” music video.
From a netbook to major music videos, local VFX artist Eddie dela Peña hits it big by helping bring Filipino-American pop star Olivia Rodrigo’s “The Cure” to life.
Dela Peña took to social media to celebrate the milestone, proudly sharing his work on the visual effects for Rodrigo’s latest music video alongside Pretend VFX, a team known for “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
“Had the absolute pleasure of working on the VFX for Olivia’s latest music video… As an Olivia Rodrigo fanboy, I am so excited to share this with you guys,” he wrote.
In a nostalgic follow-up post, Dela Peña shared a “12 years apart” comparison, juxtaposing a photo of his younger self using an old netbook with a current photo of him working on Rodrigo’s music video on a high-end laptop.
“From doing VFX on an old netbook to doing VFX on Olivia Rodrigo’s music video. Walang imposible kung baliw ka talaga eh ‘no?” he said.
The artist was quick to credit his mentors and family for guiding him in taking on bigger opportunities throughout his career.
Hailing from Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Dela Peña began his filmmaking journey in the local indie scene. As a struggling college student, he juggled camera work, editing, VFX, sound design, and color grading on his own due to limited resources.
Since moving to Manila in 2022, he has elevated his career into a full-time VFX supervisor, contributing to various local and international projects. According to his IMDb page, his credits include “Darna” (2023), “When I Met You in Tokyo” (2023), and “Everything About My Wife” (2025). He has also worked on music videos for Regine Velasquez and other artists.
Despite working on large-scale productions both locally and globally, Dela Peña remains grounded, continuing to mentor and guide grassroots filmmakers in his hometown.
