The new NBI eClearance feature lets eligible users process renewals and access digital copies, though several details have yet to be clarified.
The government has added NBI Clearance renewals to the eGovPH Super App, allowing eligible users to process their renewals and access digital copies through a single platform.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) formally launched the NBI eClearance service on June 6 in Pasay City as part of the government’s push to make public services faster, simpler, and more accessible through digital platforms.
Through the new feature, verified eGovPH Super App users can renew their NBI Clearance online, view a digital copy of their renewed clearance, and access their latest issued clearance directly within the app.
Based on the information released by the DICT and the NBI, the service appears to be intended for renewals. Neither agency has indicated that first-time NBI Clearance applications can be completed entirely through the eGovPH Super App.
Several details about the service, however, remain unclear. The DICT has yet to specify who qualifies as an eligible user beyond saying that the feature is available to verified eGovPH Super App users. It also has not clarified whether using the app involves any convenience fees beyond the standard NBI Clearance charges, whether the digital copy will be accepted by all employers and government agencies in place of a printed clearance, or whether the platform includes home delivery of renewed clearances.
The DICT said the integration supports the government’s broader digital transformation efforts by bringing more public services onto a single platform.
