Kris Aquino opens up on motherhood and recovery.
Kris Aquino is opening up about motherhood, health, and her plans in a personal social media post that touched on parenting her son, Bimby, her ongoing treatment, and her postponed work commitments.
The TV host and actress began by reflecting on what she described as a shift in her role as a mother to her “bunso,” now 19-year-old Bimby. She said she has consciously been stepping back to allow him more independence in life and decisions.
“My deal with him is he just has to give his 100%,” Kris shared, as she described letting him choose his own career path and take full ownership of his youth.
Loosening hands-on approach
Part of that transition, she said, also involves loosening her once hands-on approach to his personal life. She shared that her son told her he thinks a girl is “special,” prompting Kris to express a hopeful birthday wish: that the girl becomes his first girlfriend and “God willing also his last.”
Kris also revealed her playful involvement in how she initially wanted to show affection for the girl—suggesting gifts like flowers, balloons, chocolates, food, a matching hoodie, and even an iPhone. However, Bimby reportedly cautioned her against overdoing it.
“Mama, chill. You’ll overwhelm her because she’ll know it’s not from me but from you. Please let it flow?” he told her, according to Kris.
The post also reflected on how much Bimby has taken on in caring for her during her health struggles. Kris acknowledged this directly, saying, “Bimb has sacrificed so much to take care of me, but he doesn’t have to anymore.”
She added that the best gift she can give her son now is space to enjoy his youth.
Kris’ health update
Alongside these personal milestones, Kris also provided an update on her health condition. She said she is currently undergoing her second cycle of Rituxan infusion therapy, describing it as a “very strong immunosuppressant” but noting that she has seen “encouraging results.”
She added that those working with her under a production team organized by her godson, actor Dingdong Dantes, would need to take extra precautions due to her condition.
Kris also revealed that she had to postpone a scheduled presentation for her planned comeback project. The April 18 presentation was moved as she chose to prioritize her son’s birthday weekend instead.
“There was supposed to be a final presentation… but I asked for a resked,” she said. “I didn’t want to see what my comeback show was going to look and sound like, because this is Bimb’s weekend.”
She added that they would be celebrating privately with close family, marking only her second time going out since returning home.
